Everything you need to know about GPS cable seals
LXE is a disposable high-security cable seal with built-in GPS, cellular connectivity, and theft detection. It installs like a mechanical cable seal and activates automatically on attach. It needs no charging, equipment, or training.
A high-security seal cannot be opened and closed again without leaving evidence. That tamper resistance is what defines a high-security seal. LXE adds an electronic layer: it detects when the cable is cut, tracks GPS along the route, and reports both to the Redflag STM platform.
No. The seal is self-contained and connectivity is built in. Attach it and go. Everything is included in the price.
After sealing, LXE monitors cable state, motion, and position, and reports to the Redflag STM cloud platform every 15 to 90 minutes for the entire trip.
The seal switches to incident mode and starts sending continuous GPS updates to the cloud. SMS and email alarms go out within 60 seconds.
Destroying the seal does not hide the theft. With the electronics gone the seal cannot transmit, and it also stops sending its regular reports. The Redflag STM platform notices the missing check-in at the next expected report time, 15 to 90 minutes depending on settings, then flags the seal and alerts you by email.
Yes. Red Flag is ISO 9001 certified. The seal meets ISO 17712, the high-security seal standard required for C-TPAT container shipments. Tamper resistance and high security are independently tested by Dayton T. Brown. Certificates are on the certifications page.
Shelf life is up to 12 months before activation. In active tracking and theft detection mode the seal runs 20 to 75 days, reporting every 15 to 90 minutes. In long-term mode for stationary locks it runs up to 12 months, reporting every 8 to 24 hours.
The seal is single-use. Return it through our recycling program: we pay for shipment to our facility in the contiguous US and credit $5 per seal. Or dispose of it like a regular AA battery.
LXE works in 24+ countries on international cellular networks, switching automatically between local providers and between CAT-M (LTE-M) and NB-IoT. See the full list on the coverage map.
Without reception the seal keeps collecting GPS positions and theft detection data, then uploads the complete history when it reconnects. If the cable is cut while offline, the seal switches to alarm mode, buffers the incident data, and keeps retrying; once it regains signal it uploads everything, and if it never reconnects the platform flags it as lost signal and alerts you by email. On one customer shipment to Brazil, the seal spent two weeks offline at sea and uploaded the full track on arrival. Read the case study.
